2025 Membership Drive
Dear Friends, Neighbors & Supporters,
2025 has been a busy year for the BMSHS. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Organized seven free presentations related to the history of Briarcliff Manor and the surrounding area.
By the end of 2025 we will have prepared eleven Notebooks (short articles on the history of the village) and made them available on our website. We have also prepared and made available twelve videos.
Since October 2024 we have prepared and distributed a monthly email newsletter.
We conducted the first Historical Bus Tour in thirteen years.
Not to forget our ongoing activities: Website updates; Social Media updates; Organizing BMSHS Board Meetings; Handling Contributions; Responding to emails and other questions received; Dealing with visitors; Research re future needs e.g. live streaming etc.
None of the above would have been possible without your financial support and we very much appreciate your contributions. If you have already taken a membership in 2025, we would like to thank you. If you haven’t, we’d like you to consider doing so.
The Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, entirely funded by generous contributions from members of our community and those with an interest in supporting our activities. We are dependent upon your giving as we pursue our goal of preserving, interpreting and making available our village’s history.
If you have provided us with a street address you will be receiving, by regular mail a return envelope for your contribution. If you haven't, or if you don't want to wait contributions can be made by check payable to BMSHS mailed to P.O. Box 11, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 or online through our website at https://www.briarcliffhistory.org/donate. Unfortunately, we can only accept contributions via PayPal at this time.
All donations are tax-free and tax-deductible.
THANK YOU!
BMSHS Center Closing to Visitors During Library Building Renovation.
You're probably aware that the Briarcliff Manor Library Building (where the BMSHS is located) is closed for renovations. So far, we've been continuing operations, but at times it can be noisy and dusty. The most reliable way to get to us is to go down the steps to the Recreation Department. If you manage to get to us and need to use a rest room, your only option is to walk up to the ground floor and through the building site because the elevator is not working.
This time of year is usually a slow period for visitors and of late we've noticed a definite decrease in visitors who often drop by after a visit to the library.
Consequently, we've decided to close the Historical Center to visitors for the duration of the renovation. We'll let you know when we're back to normal.
Please note that this does not mean that we will cease operations. A lot of our work (e.g. updating the website, preparing and distributing our newsletter, responding to phone calls and email etc.) can be done remotely. We will shortly have finished our series of presentations for 2025, and future presentations will not take place until 2026 by which time (hopefully) the renovations will have finished.
At times we will be physically at the Center. It will just be closed to visitors.
During this period, you can contact us by email at mail@briarcliffhistory.org or by telephone at 914 473 5925 (if no-one answers please leave a message).
Thank you for your patience.
