The Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society’s mission is to preserve and protect the unique history of this community. Our goal is to share that story in order to build pride in our village and ensure a legacy for future generations.

We frequently use historical photographs in our work. But of course, they weren't historical at the time they were taken. Rather they were pictures of contemporary people, places, events. So, we started a project to show how Briarcliff Manor looked in the early to mid 2020s. Of course it's still very much a work in progress. We still need to add many locations. Some of the existing locations have now gone (e.g. Moon Bean, the Bakery); some remain, but have moved (e.g. Janiello's). We will be periodically updating this video to address these issues.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are now considering our schedule of presentations for 2025. If there are any topics that you would particularly like to see us cover, please let us know. Please leave a comment on this post, drop by, give us a call at 914.941.4393, or send us an email at mail@briarcliffhistory.org with your ideas/suggestions. We’ll do our best to incorporate them into our schedule.

In the meantime, we completed our first presentation for 2025 on Thursday, 27 February at 7:00pm at the Vescio Community Center. The topic was “Lost Briarcliff Manor, some of the stories behind historical buildings which have long since disappeared”. The presentation was given by Howard Dale, BMSHS. We don’t usually do presentations in the evening so this was something of an experiment, and we didn’t know how many people would attend. About 20 people turned up, including quite a few that we don’t usually see at our weekend presentations. They were quite engaged and asked lots of questions.

Our next presentation is scheduled for Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 pm. See below for details.
